The Spirit of Christmas: A Benefit Concert in Mckinney

Mckinney Spirit of Christmas Concert

If Mckinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller has his way, Christmas will be a little brighter for several local McKinney charities. After attending a musical event at First Baptist Church of McKinney, he envisioned a community concert that would bring everyone together for a common cause to share the spirit of Christmas.

“Christmas is a joyous season, but there are people in our community who are struggling just to meet their basic needs and this time of year can be emotionally taxing on them. Through ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ at FBC McKinney, our community is coming together to help those in need,” says Loughmiller.

“The Spirit of Christmas” will feature more than 100 performers including local professional musicians, instrumentalists from McKinney’s award-winning high schools, and the music ministry members of McKinney’s First Baptist Church, along with guest performers from neighboring churches.

“We’re mixing it up a bit,” says Minister of Music at FBC, Dr. Myron Wilson. “The evening will feature a variety of music: classic, country and gospel. We will have a full orchestra and choir performing some amazing pieces from Miraculum featuring an electric guitar, to our men’s choir performing ‘Hot Chocolate from Polar Express.’ We promise an evening you won’t forget. All of this is for three great charities, as all proceeds from this event will benefit The Samaritan Inn, Community Lifeline Center and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County.”

“McKinney is a caring and giving city, and we truly appreciate FBC McKinney for organizing this benefit concert that focuses on nonprofit organizations that support our residents,” said Loughmiller. “This program allows us to come together as a community to share the spirit of Christmas, and to bring joy back into the season for those who need it most.”

Experience “The Spirit of Christmas” Sunday, December 6 at 7 p.m. at FBC McKinney.
