Chamberlain Performing Arts (CPA) has two upcoming events in one night that you won’t want to miss on Saturday, April 9!

Event 1: Focal Pointe
new york theme word city

For one show only, City of Plano presents Chamberlain Performing Arts’ in the production of Focal Pointe at The Eisemann Center in the grand Hill Performance Hall. The mixed repertoire performance will feature Dallas-based Bruce Wood Dance Project performing Echoes of Enchantment and No Sea to Sail In. Set to a medley of movie and Cirque du Soleil scores, Echoes of Enchantment presents two masked characters who make their way through a world of gravity-defying creatures, playful antics, and romance, all while longing to belong. In No Sea To Sail In, the Bruce Wood dancers along with Steve Reich’s music for 18 musicians and Tony Tucci’s dynamic lighting transport the audience into a realm of striking images and ceaseless searching.

The CPA company dancers then present two ballets. The first is Valse Fantaisie, under the direction of Associate Artistic Director Carter Alexander and choreographed by the renowned George Balanchine. Valse Fantaisie features a lead couple and four women constantly moving together with light, quick motion. As described by the critic Clive Barnes, the dancers “whirl and sway in a misty yet still buoyant abandon.” The second performance by CPA includes excerpts from Napoli, choreographed by August Bournonville. Napoli villagers gather together in the town square to celebrate the wedding of Teresina and Gennaro. Every girl in the village dances a festive Ballabile to start the party. Teresina and Gennaro’s friends dance a lively Pas de Six exuding the newlyweds joy as they begin life together. Solos, duets and trios are all represented in this dance of lightness and frivolity.

Event 2: Signature 2016

The evening continues immediately following Focal Pointe, with a New York-style themed after-party! Signature 2016 is the gala benefiting the nonprofit CPA where guests can mingle with honorary chair Gayle Halperin, CPA and Bruce Woods Dance Project performers, and supporters. Enjoy post-theater dinner and drinks; bid on fabulous silent and live auction items; and be entertained by the Broadway sounds of live piano in their own rendition of Sardi’s, recreated in the Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel adjacent to the Eisemann Center. $25 of each ticket directly benefits Chamberlain Performing Arts’ programs and productions.
