What could be more indulgent and delicious than French Toast? Over-Night French Toast Casserole Bake! During baking, the brown sugar, syrup, and butter form a delicious hot syrup that soaks into the bread—heavenly!
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¼–½ cup dark Karo syrup
- 1 stick butter
- 1 loaf French bread, sliced thick
- 2 cups whole milk
- 6 eggs
- pinch of ground nutmeg
Makes 6–8 servings.
Recipe
- Melt together the brown sugar, syrup, and butter. Pour into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place the loaf of sliced bread over the brown sugar mixture.
- In a bowl, mix together the milk, eggs, and nutmeg. Pour over the bread, cover, and refrigerate to soak overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake the casserole, uncovered, for 45 minutes. Remove and serve immediately.
