Celebrate the best birthday, America’s birthday, with these super patriotic happenings in Plano:

  1. Plano’s July Fourth festivities begin Sunday, July 3 with a Patriotic Pops concert performed by the Plano Community Band. This free concert begins at 7 p.m. in Haggard Park in Downtown Plano. Custer Road United Methodist Church Choir joins in on the performance. Feel free to bring bug spray, lawn chairs or blankets, and food too if you’re hungry.
  2. July Fourth morning from 9–11 a.m. watch the Plano Lions Independence Day Parade that’ll be along the east side of Independence Parkway between 15th Street and Parkhaven Drive. “Star Spangled Banner” is this year’s theme, and it’s expected to be a hot one so remember sunscreen, sunglasses and water to stay cooled off and lookin’ cool. Oh, and get there early for prime spot pickin’!
  3. Independence Day Celebration at The Texas Pool
    Take a break from the summer’s heat and splash in the Texas Pool from 12-6 p.m. on July 4! Try your hand at the the cannon or diving ball contest, or join in pool games we all grew up playing. Snacks and grilled hot dogs will be available for purchase, or bring your picnic packed with food and under-21-year-old friendly beverages. Sunscreen, sunglasses, beach chairs and towels are encouraged. Members, veterans and active military (with ID) get in free. And, it’s only $7/person or $25/family for non-members to partake in the fun.
  4. Enjoy a late afternoon treat with the Plano Symphony Orchestra, who is putting on a patriotic concert to celebrate our military men and women fighting for our freedom and honor our great country. The Patriotic Pops Chorus performance begins at 3 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online.
  5. Top the night off with Plano’s annual All-American Fourth celebration. Purchase grub from food trucks, including Ye Old Butcher Shop and Kona Ice, starting at 5 p.m. at Collin College. Stick around for live DJ music from 7:30 p.m. until the spectacular 9:30 p.m. fireworks show that’s choreographed to music simulcast on 97.5 KLAK-FM from Oak Point Park.

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and the whole family! Admission and parking is free. Parking available at Collin College, Plano Centre and First United Methodist Church. Prime viewing area for evening fireworks show is from the hill at Collin College and from the church. Spring Creek Parkway will be closed at Parker and Jupiter at 4 p.m.
