The Plano Family YMCA will host an event on Saturday, August 20 to mark 50 years of impact serving the community. The celebration kicks off at 9 a.m. with a family fun run/walk at the Plano Family YMCA, located at 3300 McDermott Rd. in Plano. There will be carnival games, jump house, dunk tank, face painting, facility tours, food and cake for everyone.

“We are very excited to celebrate this special anniversary with the community,” said Mike Jobe, vice president of operations. “For 50 years, the Plano Family YMCA has impacted and enhanced the quality of life in our community.”

Plano Family YMCA began to take shape in 1966 when concerned members of our community envisioned a growing need for organized recreation and fellowship for youth and families in the community.

“While the Plano Family YMCA has evolved from its original name and facility, its focus and charitable mission has always remained the center of our focus,” explained Jobe. “We reflect on the foresight and determination of our founders while we look ahead to continue to make a positive impact.  Today, the Plano Family YMCA continues to be an important part of the community, offering consistent programs of activities for all ages.”

Plano Family YMCA is more than a gym. The YMCA is a charitable organization providing youth development and being advocates for healthy living and social responsibility. For more information, contact the Plano Family YMCA at 214.705.9459 or visit at planoymca.org.
