For their Make a Difference Day project, The Assistance League of Greater Collin County collected and delivered 2,466 new and gently used books to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Collin County. The 32 boxes of books were gratefully accepted by Debra Sweezer, Vice President of Programs and In School Services for the Boys and Girls Clubs. These books will be distributed to the Plano, Frisco, and McKinney Boys and Girls Clubs.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Collin County helps more than 7,000 children and teenagers by giving them a safe place to learn and grow during the vulnerable hours between school and home. The kids are offered an affordable, nurturing environment and are supported with a variety of programs and activities that assist in their educational, emotional, physical and social development.

The enthusiasm and leadership of Cheryl Davis, Assistance League chairman of this event, enabled the chapter to collect this impressive number of books for the kids.

Way to go, Assistance League!

About the Assistance League of Greater Collin County
The Assistance League of Greater Collin County was founded in 1996 as a guild of 13 enthusiastic women. In 1997, the National Assistance League® selected the chapter’s Operation School Bell® as a national program for each chapter to implement in their community. In October 1998, the guild completed the requirements to become the 103rd chapter of National Assistance League®. Members develop, fund and participate in programs that provide new school clothing for hundreds of children in need, provide activities for senior citizens, donate and distribute reading materials to patients and families at local hospitals, and support grieving parents. The chapter also addresses short-term needs in the community.
