With horns blaring, flags flying and checks in hand, more than 120 educators were surprised by Plano ISD Education Foundation Grant Patrol—board members, program sponsors, district staff, and parent leaders this past Thursday, November 12.

Departing from Park Place Lexus, the Grant Patrol traveled throughout the 100-square-mile district of Plano in seven cars, courtesy of Park Place Lexus. Their mission? To deliver $125,000 in monetary awards to fund 97 innovative instructional programs!

Throughout the morning, more than 120 educators at 42 schools were recognized and awarded checks, which will enable them to fulfill their dreams of rolling out a wide variety of different educational programs—all with the aim to enhance instruction in schools and classrooms across the district.

The Plano ISD Education Foundation Grants to Educators program this year awarded a record-breaking $125,000 in grants (a $5,000 increase from last year). Funding for the Grants to Educators program comes from a number of generous sponsors including Park Place Lexus Plano, Alliance Data, Huawei, TAFF–The Andrea-Mennen Family Foundation, SKI Plano, Plano ISD Alumni Association, Plano ISD Council of PTAs and Carole Greisdorf.

Plano ISD Education Foundation Board President Jean Callison said, “The Education Foundation is honored to assist our teachers by providing resources for innovative programs that enhance student learning in their classrooms. The Grants to Educators program is one of the best ways that private donors can assist outstanding classroom programs by supporting educators across Plano ISD.”

Grants are also funded through a variety of annual Plano ISD Education Foundation fundraisers such as: Parent and Community Honor Roll, the Annual Giving Campaign, the Plano ISD employee campaign, and the SKI Plano fundraising gala—see below for details. [print_gllr id=2398]
