This April, a Plano choir performed in beautiful Verona, Italy. The liturgical choir of Prince of Peace Catholic Community represented their parish in the 27th International Choral Competition in Verona, Italy in April. There were 21 choral groups participating from around the world, only 3 from the USA. The trip was the first of its kind for the church, which is celebrating its 25th year in Plano. Their renditions of four classical anthems and one African-American spiritual earned them a place in the bronze category.

The performance was dedicated to founder and Pastor Emeritus Father James Balint, who passed away in late March. While in Italy, the mixed-voice group also performed at a senior center, a convent, and local churches. The chance to sing in the International Choral Competition is a high honor, particularly to place so well against so many other talented choirs from around the globe, which speaks to the extraordinary talent found right here in Plano. The choir is directed by Brent Prince of Peace Catholic Community is located at 5100 West Plano Parkway.
