UPDATE: On July 29, 2016, the Chamber told us that the move has been pushed back to August 24.

The Plano Chamber of Commerce is about to bid farewell to its downtown location of 40 years and set up shop at 5400 Independence Pkwy. Suite 200, Plano, TX 75023. The new office is above the LegacyTexas Bank near the intersection of Independence and Spring Creek.

The reason for the move is simple: the Plano Chamber has grown dramatically along with the boom in the local business community. As the Plano Chamber staff has increased, so did their need for space. So, the Plano Chamber formed a task force to find a new facility back in 2012. The task force met five times in 14 months, searching for a facility that would allow more room to grow with Plano and help them provide more services to members.

Plano Chamber President/CEO Jamee Jolly called the new location above LegacyTexas Bank “an amazing opportunity.” She said, “LegacyTexas knew we were looking for our next home, and at the same time, they were looking at possibly opening a business convenience center in one of their locations. …The LegacyTexas Business Center is a shared space that is open to Plano Chamber members and LegacyTexas business customers. The Plano Chamber will manage the space as part of the sponsorship agreement with LegacyTexas. In return, the Plano Chamber has access to the shared space that includes a large meeting room, several smaller conference rooms, and a coffee bar. It truly is a win-win for the Plano Chamber, our members, and LegacyTexas.” The business center will have wifi and printing capabilities, allowing people to work independently or in a group. Members are welcome to reserve meeting rooms with media boards if they wish as well.  The large conference room will fit around 150 people and will be a wonderful venue for many Chamber functions.

So what’s most exciting about the Chamber move? “The new office configuration will allow for more collaboration amongst our members and staff. The modern interiors will project a professional image, while providing a proper gathering place for Plano business,” Jolly said. “Located at the geographic center of Plano, the new facility is more conveniently located so that all members will be able to have easy access for Chamber programs and meetings, as well as the LegacyTexas Business Center.”

A Furniture Sale will be Saturday, July 30 at the soon-to-be-old location. There will be desks, chairs, tables, lamps and other office supplies available at affordable prices. From 7:30–9 a.m., the Plano Chamber office will be open to members interested in purchasing office furniture at greatly reduced prices. It will then open to the public at 9:30 a.m.

Since 1946, the Plano Chamber of Commerce has been a local force for good, promoting economic growth in our community, fostering business-friendly politics and providing programs, benefits and services to their members. They are “the voice of the business community in Plano,” according to their website.
