“Mommy, where did the moon go?” Brit Mott peered into the rear-view mirror and the morning sun was shining down on her 3-year-old’s face. “When Sun wakes up, Moon goes night, night. When Moon wakes up, Sun goes night, night.

“Mommy, where did the moon go?” Brit Mott peered into the rear-view mirror and the morning sun was shining down on her 3-year-old’s face. “When Sun wakes up, Moon goes night, night. When Moon wakes up, Sun goes night, night.”

If this conversation sounds familiar to you as a parent, then you’re in the right place. Check out Sun, Moon & Friends, a children’s book that teaches your kids about the world they are discovering.

Sun, Moon & Friends is a charming story that personifies the celestial characters we all know and love. Written by Brit Mott and illustrated by Christina Larkins, the story was inspired by Brit’s daughter, Myla, and her endearing curiosity. The book is $15 on PayPal and $17 on Amazon (plus tax, shipping and handling).

Brit’s mom, Becky Porter, hand-crochets snugly soft blankets called Lovies to bundle with the book. Lovies are named in memory of Becky’s mom, Lovie Joy. The bundle includes a Lovie in the color of your choice and in the size of your choice, Infant ($55) or Toddler ($60). The bundle is tied with a pretty tulle bow making it the perfect baby shower gift or birthday gift for little ones.

Formerly the Editor of Plano Profile Magazine, Brit currently works as a copywriter for JCPenney. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, where she discovered Christina Larkins’ portfolio of work. Christina’s vivid watercolor paintings met Brit’s vision, and when the author learned that the illustrator had roots in Plano, there was an instant connection. Brit lives in Coppell with her husband Bill, 5-year-old daughter Myla and 4-year-old son Liam. Myla started kindergarten this week where she will be reading the book to her classmates in the fall. Brit foresees more readings at local schools, including her alma matter, Rockwall High School. Brit’s mother Becky is a Plano resident and former elementary school teacher. She and her husband Robert of 43 years were both born and raised in Dallas.
