1,000 Volunteers commemorate 9/11 during 17th annual “Freedom Day”

Communities Foundation of Texas for Business (CFT4B), a program of Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), organized more than 1,000 volunteers to participate in “Freedom Day” activities on September 11, 2018. The event is one of the largest 9/11 commemorative events in DFW and began with a ceremony honoring female veterans for their service. Air Force veteran Brandy Baxter was keynote speaker. Following the ceremony, volunteers traveled to designated service sites across North Texas.

Air Force veteran Brandy Baxter gives the keynote address at the opening ceremony for the 17th annual “Freedom Day” volunteer event, held to honor those lost and forever changed on 9/11. The event drew more than 1,000 volunteers who worked at sites across DFW.

The event was organized by Communities Foundation of Texas for Business; more than 1,000 volunteers participated at locations all over DFW in honor of those lost and those forever changed by the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
