A new department store called Neighborhood Goods is set to open its flagship store in Plano’s Legacy West shopping district. Neighborhood Goods prides itself in being a new kind of department store, in which customers will partake in a full retail, culinary, and auditory experience. The new storefront comes after founders Matt Alexander and Mark Masinter raised over $5.75 million over the course of the past summer. Alexander has been building his resume in retail over the past few years, having launched online retail shop Need in 2014, as well co-finding pop-up showcase Unbranded, which allows entrepreneurs, artists, and designers a free space to share their works.

One notable component of Neighborhood Goods will be their rotating brands. Alexander and Masinter are opting not to purchase their merchandise at wholesale, allowing them to rotate the store’s merchandise at their own discretion. Upon its opening, the first round of merchandise will include products from the likes of men wellness brand Hims, Hubble contact lenses, and UK pajama brand Desmond & Dempsey.

Neighborhood Goods will cover 13,000 square feet, which may sound like a lot to take in, however, the store is designed to meet the customers’ needs at any given moment. For example, using a mobile application, customers can order products to be brought to them as they shops in various sections of the store.

There will also be an in-store restaurant called Prim & Proper, which is housed by the Frontburner Group (Haywire, Sixty Vines, and Whiskey Cake). Shoppers can order coffee or cocktails from Frontburner and sip on them as they peruse the store.

Neighborhood Goods is currently slated to open in Legacy West in November 2018, with more locations to open in 2019.
