It's been two years since the PGA of America opened its new headquarters in Frisco and one year since the PGA Frisco courses made their debut. Can you believe it?

Leading up to the PGA Professional Championship, Local Profile spoke with John Lindert, president of the PGA of America, at the PGA Coaching Center about the North Texas relocation — namely, how it's been. In one word, Lindert described it as "fantastic."

"It's actually beyond belief," Lindert told Local Profile. "I was part of the board when we made the decision to move from West Palm Beach to Frisco. The buy-in from the Omni properties and the city of Frisco working collaboratively together is just beyond what I could have ever imagined. And golf courses have turned out fantastic."

But that corporate-civic collaboration isn't the only thing that impressed Lindert. The people of Frisco have, too.

"It's been really interesting to watch how the communities embraced the short course The Swing and The Dance Floor on Friday and Saturday nights with kids everywhere," said Lindert. "It's something special for the game of golf."

It's also something special for the city of Frisco. "When you think about how much activity is on the dance floor now, when there aren't as many homes, to put your mind around what's going to happen in five years?" The city will continue to grow, and PGA Frisco is a key component of that growth.

"This whole community has risen to the occasion," said Lindert. "And I think that the thing that's so interesting about it: For me, it's how well the community has embraced this property." He recalled coming here eight years ago, standing on a hill and looking down on 600 acres of cow pasture. "It's staggering and mind-boggling."

From April 28 to May 1, the 2024 PGA Professional Championship will be held at Fields Ranch in Frisco, with 312 PGA of America golf professionals competing for the top spot.
