Once a jack of all trades—a computer programmer, a teacher and even a screenwriter, actress and news anchor—today, Merrilee Kick is at the helm of one of the only women-owned distilleries in the country. Located in Carrollton, BuzzBallz/Southern Champion specializes in making ready-to-drink cocktails, BuzzBallz, as well as premium spirits like vodka, rum, gin, bourbon and wines within Southern Champion, their spirits division.

Jana is responsible for the divisional Customer Office, which provides customer experience analysis and insights, external and internal strategic partnerships, communications and public relations, events, community outreach for the South-Central region, and two targeted operating teams that support customers. She also leads the EmpowHER group, that gives women the opportunity to leverage their strengths and diverse experiences to inspire each other


Myrna Estrada
Vice President and Regional General Manager for Safeco Insurance

At just 19 years old, Myrna began her career with Liberty Mutual as the personal assistant to the vice president of the underwriting department. Myrna now manages the distribution of products to more than one million customers, partnering with more than 6,000 agents in a six-state area. She feels blessed and thankful for her long career with Liberty Mutual and the opportunities it has provided her.


Dana Beckman, Alliance Data, PlanoDana Beckman
Director of Corporate Affairs at Alliance Data

Dana oversees the global corporate responsibility strategy at Alliance Data, including a multimillion-dollar giving budget, environmental strategy, and all external corporate responsibility reporting. The company was still young in 2008, investing around $250,000 annually, when they asked Dana to take over the grassroots community involvement program. In 2018, that same program will invest $15 million in communities worldwide.


Praveena Nathawat
Talent Management and Diversity at Ericsson

In her current role, Praveena works to transform the talent pipeline and organizational culture to support Ericsson’s networked society vision and accelerate growth in new and targeted areas. In this capacity, she partners with HR business partners and business leaders to drive a focused talent strategy, driving a high-performance culture and orchestrating the culture movement.

Author and motivational speaker obsessed with giving women the tools they need to believe in themselves

Maxie has made a career on empowering women across the globe and recently published a book called You’re Not Lost: An Inspired Action Plan for Finding Your Own Way. In her book, Maxie provides realistic advice and steps for women who feel like they are just spinning their wheels. “There’s not a day I doubt being on this earth to give you the tools you need to believe in yourself, ” says Maxie.


Lauren Przybyl
Fox 4 Good Day Anchor

Born and raised in North Texas, Lauren attended Baylor University majoring in Journalism and minoring in Biology. An animal-lover, Lauren once thought she’d be a marine biologist, but after a professor introduced her to the news business she was hooked. Before moving to Fox 4 Good Day, Lauren anchored for television stations in Abilene and Albuquerque and has made several appearances on the Today Show, MSNBC, CNN and The Weather Channel.


Jasmin Brand
CEO Launch DFW and North Texas Director, Brazen Global

Jasmin is the CEO of Launch DFW, a digital media company on a mission to inspire and support the future of tech and business innovation in North Texas. She is also the President of DARBY JAMES, an experiential marketing agency known for innovative content, strategic events, and influencer management. While supporting startups, she actively advocates for gender equality.
